Community Tea Ceremony
Community Tea Ceremony
Connect with nature. Restore balance within yourself. Be with Tea.
Service Description
Enjoy the health benefits and energetic boost of tea while experiencing the profound mystery that illuminates the spirit when we sit together in silence. Tea clears the mind, opens the heart, and grounds the soul—reconnecting us to the earth and our own inner wisdom. Uniquely attuned to the season and current astrology, this first tea meditation at Healing Roots holds the gentle intention of restoring vibrant balance to ourselves, our community, and all beings. What to expect: This session is a contemplative community experience held mostly in silence. There will be time at the beginning and end of the practice for talking/listening. Our time begins with an introduction to the practice offered by Kali and closes with a little teaching and group share at the end. Group size is limited to 10 people. FAQ – Is there caffeine in the tea? Yes, Camilla sinensis is naturally caffeinated and not an herbal tea (e.g. peppermint tea, chamomile tea, etc.). The flavor is one that is more earthy in nature and is either wild or organic, grown with devotion and love. We typically enjoy between 4-5 bowls in a ceremony with shorter steepings. If you are sensitive to caffeine you can decide to have less bowls and see how you feel. Do I have to sit on the floor? Tea ceremony is traditionally offered on the ground, and participants sit on the floor. For our purposes it is not required you sit on the floor, if you prefer a chair, please inform us before the event. Is it very strict? Unlike some tea ceremonies, the form that Kali offers is one that is less strict and people are allowed to make themselves comfortable while being respectful of others. Meet your facilitator: Kali Higgins has many practices she is known for, and being the tea lady is high on the list. In 2014, she completed herbalist training and began making herbal tea blends. In 2017, she met Camilla sinensis, the plant that is offered in bowl tea ceremony. She attended as many tea sessions as she could and eventually decided in 2022 to go through a tea training. Over the next few years, Kali went on to complete a number of other tea trainings. Kali finds that serving tea is a gift and a deep honor, and she is excited to offer tea sits with the community of River Falls. In addition to tea ceremony, Kali offers astrology readings and programs, sound healing, yoga, and group wellness coaching. She also enjoys being creative with her daughters, writing, cooking and spending time in nature.
