Service Description

As a grief educator and integrative guide, one of the most common conversations I have with someone whose loved one recently died is centered on the preparation that was done beforehand - or not. When both the practical (wills, bills, and everything in-between) and the sacred (letters, photos, sentimental items) are tended to while we are living, our loved ones are able to move through our death with a lot more ease when it really matters. It’s a little like leaving a lantern lit for those who remain - one of our greatest acts of love. And the best part? This is for anyone, at any age. We cannot predict the future, but we can prepare ourselves and our loved ones for it so that we may live with peace in our hearts knowing that we’ve tended to what matters. A Mini-Retreat This gentle and grounded mini-retreat invites you to begin preparing for your eventual departure (no matter your age!) with intention, love, and maybe even a little laughter. It is not about being morbid. It is about being thoughtful. It is about tending to the ones who will remain so that we don’t leave behind a cosmic mess of unanswered questions, scattered documents, and “what the heck were they thinking?” moments. How we will spend our time together: Friday evening, we will gather to create a legacy altar. Through story, memory, and a simple ceremony, we will explore what it means to leave behind something meaningful. You will be invited to reflect on what really matters to you and what you hope your loved ones will carry forward. Saturday, we’ll balance the sacred with the practical: some gentle movement, shared reflections, and yes, we’ll face the logistics like emergency contacts, final wishes, letters to loved ones, and a few “please don’t forget the dog” details. We will spend time with thoughtfully-crafted binder inserts and templates that are provided for you to get a start on your Graceful Exit Binder. You will leave with a very clear framework so that you can finalize both the logistical and soulful sections in a way that feels gentle and doable. Please bring a heart that’s open to exploring the important process of practical and sacred preparation, and together we will explore end-of-life in a new and different way. I will provide a 3-ring binder and a light lunch. You’ll leave with your heart a little lighter, your binder a little fuller, and your people a whole lot better off when the time comes.
