Tending Grief Through the Holidays
Tending Grief Through the Holidays
A Day Retreat of Rest, Ritual, & Creating Comfort
Service Description
The holidays can be a particularly difficult and complex time when you are living with grief. Whether you are grieving a death, relationship, role, home, tradition, season of life, or another loss that has changed the shape of your world, this day-long retreat offers a compassionate place to slow down and explore the question: How can I tend to myself and my grief through the holiday season? Throughout the day, you’ll experience gentle grief-tending and restorative practices, reflection, meaningful conversation and witnessing, creative expression, sound, and ritual. You’ll also create a personal Holiday Grief-Tending Kit filled with meaningful objects, simple rituals, and supportive practices to take home and return to throughout the holidays. Spaciousness, rest, and connection will be woven throughout the day as you gather comfort and support for the season ahead. Lunch, warm drinks, and light snacks will be provided. Bring a favorite blanket, journal and pen, and a favorite mug to help you settle in for the day. You’re also welcome to bring photographs, small mementos, or other meaningful objects connected to what or whom you are grieving to incorporate into our remembrance space and rituals. This is completely optional - simply bring what feels meaningful to you.
